In Memory of Kaelin

For my readers: Please help my friend Tibor, who is riding for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (http://www.firstgiving.com/kaelintoczauer), in memory of his little girl Kaelin, who died from this devastating disease at the young age of 12. Please help us find a cure for this disease. Tibor's goal is $3,000. He is almost 1/3 of the way there. Help Tibor reach his goal today. Any tax-deductible amount is appreciated: $5, $10. Thank you.

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

For the most part, I am not the kind of person that really cares about celebrities or their lives, and I do believe that even celebrities are entitled to privacy in their own lives, no different that the rest of us. Of course, some seek more attention that others, but that is another story. I worked in the entertainment in Hollywood, California, for well over 10 years, doing legal work for TV soaps/shows/movies and some films. Being in the legal department, I really got to know celebrities, and to be honest, I was not impressed.

Celebrities are a product of their agents, lawyers and their fame. We, the regular Joe Blows, are the ones that put the celebrities where they are, and the bigger the fame, the bigger the head. One of the reasons that I find celebrities to be huge hypocrites, is their pompous demands. Certainly, demands not dignified of people that always seem to be "bleeding" for the causes of the little people. In celebrities' contracts, we find clauses such as: travel (first class air/hotel/transportation); trailers must not be smaller than so many feet; only this water can be purchased; fresh flowers every day; no contact with extras unless necessary (in the original 90212, extras were not allowed to look at the show's stars unless they were working -- imagine that -- that is a liberal idea!); car and driver; an entourage of stylists: make-up, clothing, hair; clauses to keep the clothes provided on the show; family clauses; pet clauses; entertainment clauses, it just goes on and on. And then they turn around and criticize the middle-class Americans in the tea parties that what to keep a little bit more of their income to make ends meet, or perhaps fund a yearly vacation for the family or a fancy toy at Christmas for the children. I think celebrities only care for causes out of guilt.

When you see Jennifer Aniston in her bikini in some foreign fancy beach resort sunning herself, do you think she's thinking of the starving children in India? Hardly. Yes, celebrities do give a lot to charities, but they have to, they make a lot of money. Either Uncle Sam gets it, or charities. Charitable contributions are a huge deduction. And, please, when a celebrity tapes a spot for a charity, pompous demands go with that shoot, too!

Having said all of this, I will say that I am saddened by Sandra Bullock's breakup with Jesse James. Sandra is one of the nice ones in Hollywood--sincere, down to earth, sweet. She really believed in Jesse's love, and the family (his children), she was raising with him. Even in her acceptance speech during the recent Oscars win, she thanked her husband for "having her back." (Actually, he was having someone else's back, and probably pounding it pretty hard...I am just saying here.) Jesse is just trash, and what Sandra saw in him, I just don't know. I think women just like bad boys. We feel safe with them. It's programmed in our primitive brains from the cavemen days. Women take care of the cave, and men hunt and gather food, and wrestle dragons (so to speak).

In any event, it is not my business. This is something that Sandra and Jesse, and the children, have to work out in privacy, and I hope the paparazzi understands this, and the rest of us do too. Sandra is human. Having a few million in the bank is not going to make the pain, violation of trust or unhappiness, any easier. On the contrary, Sandra now has to deal with this horrible betrayal in public, and the loss of what was, her family. One day you have a family, the next, gone. I wouldn't want it, and you wouldn't want it. People tend to forget the seedier side of Hollywood break-ups. Yes, the fame and money must be fun, but I am not sure I would want the lack of privacy. Who would?

Health care bill message from a Judge in Texas....this is real!

http://www.resistnet.com/profiles/blogs/send-a-message-to-150.

The above is an actual post from a Judge in Texas. Please cut and paste the link, and read it. Many of the sections that the Judge has issues with are quite frightening, and a total violation of our Constitutional rights. And to make matters worse, and the unfairness of it all is, that the Health care bill will apply to all citizens (and non-citizens and illegals), but will DO not apply to the members of Congress, and you will understand why as you read the Judge's post. This bill is a travesty. Imagine our elderly parents, with curable cancers, that might be denied basic cancer treatments because of their age, but illegals to our country will benefit from this health care bill; the Gov. will have access to your bank accounts (and liberals were afraid of Bush's wire-tapping of terrorists...hah!); doctors will all be paid the same, regardless of specialty and all salaries will be set by the government (it's beginning to look more like Christm... errrr...Communism). It's your choice America. We can either live in a nanny state where the Gov. dictates our every move and takes care of us from cradle to grave, or we say backoff. I have the freedom to live the life I so chose, and the Gov. will stay out of my life, my health care decisions and my pocketbook. Americans, this is a decision of life or death, literally and figuretively.

I so agree...

This is how I feel about Obama. Most see this fresh-faced, great orator, great smile. I see just another sleazy lawyer-politician that will say and do anything to get elected, or pass unpopular legislation. People are so blinded by this Marxist fool we now call our President. November 2010 cannot come fast enough for me, and I am hoping for the best come 2012! Ugh. Please cut and paste this link...a must see for everyone.

Liberals today are a joke!

I am so sick and tired of hearing the liberal mindset. When I considered myself a liberal, I was nowhere in the league of today's liberals. Today's liberals hate this country. I always loved my country. To be a liberal when I was a teen meant, that you believed in freedom of religion, freedom of speech, liberty for all. The rights of women to terminate their pregnancies if they so chose to; passing laws that would protect children, the elderly, and women from abuse; making sure we passed laws that kept our environment clean and our food safe; protecting the forests from over forestation; protecting dolphins and whales from slaughter, or animals from painful testing; protecting human rights all over the world. I joined the Dolphin Free Tuna campaign; I joined Save the Whales and Amnesty International. Before 9/11, and before the Afghan and Iraq wars were even a glimmer in the eyes of President Bush (whom I considered a total idiot, if I may add), I wrote Amnesty International about the abuses of Muslim women in the Middle East. The beatings these women endured in the streets for wearing make-up under their Burkas, or for walking out in the streets without a male relative chaperon. I remember the secret documentary a woman made in Afghanistan about the treatment of women, and how this one woman was shot in the head at a soccer field with hundreds watching, because she committed the ultimate crime: she killed a man--her abusive husband. A husband who had been beating her and her 10 children for years. Today's liberals (or Leftists), praise people like Michael Moore, who makes his fortune from lying to the masses, and worse, they believe him. I wrote Michael a long e-mail once. I dared him to interview my cousin in Florida who left for the USA in a raft, but I never heard from him. Moore does not seem to understand that Cuba has two societies: the tourists and the Cuban people. The Cuban people are second class citizens in their own country. They are prohibited from frequenting the popular tourist areas: beaches, hotels, restaurants, stores. The so-called Cuban health care system is a fraud. Cuba has two types of health care system, the good one, that cater to wealthy tourists who pay with cash, and get any treatment they seek, and the dirty, antiquidated Cuban "consultorios" and hospitals that the Gov. offers its own citizens. Liberals in this country have no clue about what it's like to live in a communist country. Let me tell you. My parents lived under Castro's regime for 7 years, and those were the good years (so to speak). For those who do not know, in a communist country there are no private businesses. Everything is run by the gov. for the people, so the gov. sets all the wages (the average monthly income for a Cuban is $15.00). However, the Gov. does provide free health care (which sucks), free housing--housing is determined by family size--individuals do not get to chose where they live; education is free and food is relatively cheap, except you are only allowed certain amounts and types of food for one's family. For instance, Cubans are given ration cards, and those cards determine how many pounds of rice, beans and proteins a family gets each month. Milk is only allowed for families with small children. By the time the youngest child reaches 10 years old, no more milk is allowed for that family. A family of four is allowed about 2 lbs. of chiken and pork a month; there is no beef. Eggs are rationed and seafood is rationed (which is pretty strange since Cuba is an island). Cuba is a complete Nanny State. The gov. takes care of you from cradle to grave. One cannot travel without permission, and one cannot even go to a store and buy a toaster, since they are usually only available in the black market. A Cuban cannot walk into a pharmacy and buy aspirins. Aspirins are a precious commodity. I know. My mom sends care packages to our family in Cuba once or twice a year, and the packages always include aspirin, toothbrush, socks, soap, antiacid, toothpaste, combs, brushes, underwares, all items that we take for granted in America. For Cubans, those items are complete luxuries. And when I see Michael Moore being used as a pawn by Cuba's Gov. for the Gov's own political gains, it makes me sick. Michael is being taken to the tourist hospitals, the ones supported by foreign money, and the Americans in this country say...wow, I wish I had that. Michael Moore is a whore to the Castros, Chavezes and oppressors of this world, and we Americans let him get away with it, while he laughs all the way to the bank. And for that, we call him a hero. God, I remember when my heros were astronauts and firefighters. What is happening to my beloved country? :/

Carla Passed Away. :(

My friend Carla passed away last Tuesday at 2AM. I attended her viewing and rosary last night. I could not find my way to the casket. I did not want to see my friend dead. I couldn't. I still see her alive in my head and my heart. Although Carla was suffering from a devastating brain tumor and she had not long to live, an infection killed her. It started in her stomach, and it rapidly spread thoughout her body, and her heart could no longer keep up. She died of cardiac arrest. Although Carla died way too soon (she was only 57), I am glad she did not suffer through the effects of cancer. It's a horrible death. I know, my father died from cancer. God Bless you Carla, and my God keep you always.
